Customer Ratings:

  • sounds great - not possible. I would be a basket case if I tried this. Not very realistic I thought. Perhaps the author would come and demonstrate how it works.
  • Money for old rope!. Perhaps a few examples of the insights and innovative ideas contained in this book will be helpful in deciding whether to waste money on it. I bet you never thought about putting hooks on the back of the bathroom door to hang bathrobes on? Or about having a laundry bin so that you don t leave towels and dirty clothes on the floor! Meanwhile in the bedroom, I don t suppose you would have thought of using an ottoman to store bedlinen or spare clothes in? Nor would I have guessed that the top of a wardrobe or under the bed might be the places to house things that are only used infrequently. Turning now to the kitchen - apparently you should store items according to their function which seems to mean keeping cutlery in a cutlery drawer (now I would never have thought of that on my own), keeping cleaning products in one place (wow) and so on. There are a few other gems too - but suffice it to say that you would have to be pretty dim not to have thought of most it yourself. You could get the same ideas out of a free Ikea catalogue. The essence of de-cluttering is very simple - just tidy up & throw out junk. The problem is not that people don t know what to do, but rather that they are either too lazy, too busy or can think of better things to do with their time. No book, least of all this one, can remedy that.
  • Not worth the postage!. I m some what torn between telling the truth (that this book is a waste of space) or fibbing on the off chance I might be able to re-sell my copy!

If you re idea of a good book on clutter is a photo of a messy house followed by a photo of a tidy house then this is for you! I was hoping for more insightful tips on how to slim down our junk or how to store it. I know I need to just tidy up all the stuff and everything will look better - but who needs a whole book to say this!

The only part of the book I found useful was the list of shops which sell clutter reducing devices (baskets etc) at the back of the book!

Save your money and put it towards a skip instead!
  • Surprsingly good read.... I am a bloke, so would normally not touch this sort of stuff, but actually quite a well-written and funny book with some really useful tips in it...if you are a girl it would be fabulous!
  • the clutter clinic. Brill! just what I needed: Great visuals, easy references, and loads of common sense ideas. Worth every penny.
