The Audi Tt Story
Product Description: - Here is the full story of how the Audi TT Coup and Audi TT Roadster were developed, from the initial concept drawings to the first production cars in Autumn 1995. Several little-known anecdotes (for example, the TT was nearly dubbed the Edelweiss) are accompanied by the complete story behind their design and magnificent color photographs of the two models in such exotic locales as the lava-covered beaches of Iceland.
Customer Ratings: - Great introduction to a unique vehicle. I bought an Audi TT 225 hp roadster back in 2001 (dark green with the baseball leather) and wanted to know more about where the idea for such a uniquely styled vehicle had come from. This book provided that, and more.
PROS: - Some great photos and background on the design evolution - Good explanation of how the production car came so close to the prototype - Good description of quattro system, although strictly the TT is a front-wheel drive until slip is detected. So not a true permanent all-wheel drive. CONS: - A little too corporate-speak for my taste. Lots of designed by Dr.. and approved by Audi-Volkswagen s chief designer, Herr...
Initially got lots of stares & waves while driving the TT, but ultimately its poor reliability let it down. - An exceptional chronicle for an exceptional car.. The Audi TT story is one of inspiration and fascination. The book gives the reader a look at the creativity and innovation that went in the design and production of the TT.
I particularly enjoyed the wonderful technical detail, which is so eloquently described and an important part in understanding the TT. The TT Book was wonderfully written and adorned with some of the best automotive photography ever published. I give it my highest rating! - An exceptional chronicle for an exceptional car.. I particularly enjoyed the wonderful technical detail, which is so eloquently described and an important part in understanding the TT. The TT Book was wonderfully written and adorned with some of the best automotive photography ever published. I give it my highest rating! - Excellent biography of an excellent car. It s interesting to see the gestation of any successful design project. How it was made, what inspired it, what didn t make it, who was behind the scenes. The TT Book is fantastic look at evolution of a design concept, and concisely tells how a small focused team of designers and technicians can turn a great concept into a great reality.
The best feature of the book by far is the photography. Included are several shots of the early prototypes and the show cars, as well as the final coupe and roadster production models. And the final section of the book is a series of promotional photos taken in Iceland. Putting a striking car like the TT in that otherworldly environment was truly a masterstroke. On the flipside, the book does bog down somewhat in the technical details. But, as a biography of the TT concept, it does make The TT Book a truly complete work.
