Customer Ratings: - A great tutorial from Kelby. Certainly there are other books out there that explain Lightroom 2, but Kelby s gives the digital photographer the information they need to know in an easy to access format that amounts to an actual workflow. Lightroom 2 is a powerful application (particularly when coupled with Photoshop) and getting to know the most efficient way to use it is quite complex unless there is a guide, this book is that guide. Recommended!
- Makes Lightroom Simple. This book really does make lightroom simple. The book is broken down into sections to help you really understand how to get the best out of the program. Scott Kelby adds his own unique humour to the book but I don t think this takes anything away from the quality of the book. An example of how valuable this book has been to me despite only having it for a day or two is that my workflow has been reduced and I ve i ve been able to save some really noisy photos at the click of a button. Without the guidance from the book I d have been stuck with noisy pictures forever!! Well maybe an exagerration but the books layout made it easy to find the page I needed to correct the problem. Would definately recommend the book.
- lightroom magic. This really is an excellent book. I am a recent convert to Lightroom, after using Elements for several years. Before buying the book I had worked out some things for myself, but unless you know what the programme can do, you would probably miss many of the useful functions. The book is really well written in plain English and with a good deal of humour. The step by step guides are clear and easy to follow, resulting in some excellent results. I haven t made use of them myself yet, but all of the photos worked on in the book are available online to practice with yourself.
- One of the most annoying books I ve bought. It s clear that Scott Kelby likes himself a lot. He spends 80% of the text of this book burbling, joking and chatting to you as if he s your new best buddy. This becomes time consuming and very annoying if you just need the facts. Everything in the book is organised as stepped workflows, which is appropriate about a tenth of the time. The index is poor. The page headers don t show the chapter name. There are no sub-headings. It s a disaster.
For example, Chapter 1 starts Now, do we really need an entire chapter just on importing photos? Nope. We could just skip it, but then the book would be starting with Chapter 2. Very funny, Scott, but please go and play somewhere else. - An excellent Lightroom tutorial. If you like Scott Kelby s rather quirky writing style then this is a great way to get into learning all about Adobe Lightroom. I am finding the book very easy to follow and the layout is logical in terms of the order of doing things. Scott advises watching a short video on his training site and I certainly found it a useful intro to the book. The images used in the book can all be downloaded so you can try out all the exercises yourself and this really helps them stick in the mind, which is important for an oldie like me! All in all, highly recommended.
