Customer Ratings: - Consideration for Preparedness .. its not just about food !. Being prepared with foodstuffs for a disaster is a great idea. But ... once you ve satisfied your hunger ... how do you handle the subject of a potty call where there is nowhere to .. uh ... eliminate?
Luggable Loo is a wonderful choice. It s comfortable, portable and sanitary. Easier if you use a plastic liner, so clean up is a cinch. Biohazard bags are available but costly. We use simple trash bags, tie a knot in the bottom so leaking is not a problem. Thirteen gallon size bags seem to work well and fit securely under the seat. This simplifies disposal after each use.
We find this handy on our little boat, as well as when we go camping outdoors. It fits nicely in a tent, and is an excellent survival tool in the case where you have to leave because of a diaster -- hurricanes are prevalent in our area. However, it will work well in any situation where bathrooms are not available. Hey .. it s all about comfort. And this little item has it! - Works exactly as advertised.. As I m sure you figured out, this is simply a toilet seat that snaps over the top of a five gallon bucket. It locks in place firmly, and gives you a secure and comfortable place to sit. I have found it to be hygenic and easy to clean and transport. I use a small trash bag inside, and the powder that is supplied with the toilet works really well for containing odors (I bought more packets of the powder at my local REI store). I use this in my woodshop, and it s perfect for that application.
At least one review said this is lower than a conventional toilet, but it s not. I set the two side by side, and they are pretty much identical in height. It s a simple product that does exactly what it says. And if you have a conventional 5-gallon bucket available, you can also save a little money by purchasing the toilet set by itself. - functional. we found this product very functional. we put a little kitty litter in the bottom, but cat litter is meant for cats....needless to say, we had a small lump of litter in alot of fluid!!! just use a bag.
- Awesome invention. Used this when camping. It has a snug lid and a flip down top, just like a toilet seat and very light. I read all the reviews and liked the one where you line it with a 13 gallon trashbag and put about a cup of kitty litter on the bottom. Worked awesome, was the best investment I ve made in a while. I m alittle on the heavy side and it was very sturdy.
- Simple, easy and cheap. This is pretty much the cheapest portable toilet you can find, and it does the job well enough. We only use it if we are VERY far from the bathroom while camping, and then only if my wife has to pee. I just find a tree if I have to pee at 3am, even when we are close to the bathroom.
One thing to note is that even if you use it only for urine it will not smell very nice. We use a kitchen garbage bag and change it every day, as suggested by some other reviewers. We also keep it outside of our pop-up camper at all times.
So far we have only brought it with us camping twice, and left it at home all the other times since we were close enough to the bathrooms.
In the end I would definetely recommend this product, especially for the budget minded. It really is the cheapest one we could find, and serves it s purpose well enough.
If you plan on keeping a portable toilet INSIDE your tent or camper, then you are apparently much more comfortable using the bathroom in front of others than we are, and have a much lower gag level than us, but more power to you.
Seriously, though, for frequent use indoors most of the portable toilets that sell for $100 or more have features that eliminate much of the unpleasant odors, and would probably be worth the extra money in that type of situation.
