Customer Ratings: - As comforting as cock-a-leekie.. What an absolute joy. I bought this book originally for my boyfriend, who grew up with the Broons (as did my nan and a great many others). The book is truly a work of love and is as entertaining as it is fundamental to any beginner in the kitchen - providing instruction on things you rarely find in other books, such as where various bits of meat come from on the animal, how best to cook them and most importantly, what to do with the bones after. In fact, don t think about making soup until you ve bought this book! I now sit and pour over it again and again as my boyfriend tries out his best loved recipes. A must for anyone who has any knowledge of Scottish cuisine, or indeed anyone at all - although it may be of more of a struggle to translate.

- the Broons cook book. I bought this book for my 2 sisters, one on Canada and one in Holland. We all loved it as we can remember reading about the Broons when we were children in Scotland. Some great recipes in it, and some we already use, inherited from our Mother. Great stuff
- Refreshing. Having seen this book on Amazon and read a little about it I thought it would make a good stocking filler for my xmas and I was correct. I have had many a laugh and memory recall when reading this book and am thoroughly enjoying it
- FANTASTIC BOOK!. What a wonderful book! I bought it for a gift and the recipient was over-the-moon. Has all the old, original Scottish recipies. It s like looking through your great-granmother s own recipe book and is so authentic. Highly recommended.
