Mac OS X Leopard: The Missing Manual 
Asiakaspalvelu Ratings: - mac how too book. This is a must have book if like me you are switching from the dated Microsoft Windows. It is an easy to use reference guide well worth the money and provides a good insight to the Mac.
- Superb purchase.. Money well spent.This book really should have been in the box with my new i-mac.
- Apple Convert. Having just purchased the latest 2009 Apple IMac 242.9GHz. Plus the fact that this was my first Apple Mac this manual is the only thing that was missing from the Apple box. A real must for converts from PC to Apple really helpful & simple to follow instructions, helping one get the most enjoyment from their Apple Mac.
- good manual for mac users only. Good manual for those who never used mac, there is a chapter on how to use the terminal, and I found that chapter pretty good, but not completely exhaustive. I bought that book because I had some problems for installing programs for linux, and in my view this chapter has a good general explanation on how this system works, but for practical purposes is not completely enough. Anyway, it is an excellent manual, for all the other applications included in Leopard OSX!
- Particularly good for a crisis!. I have to admit that I ve really only skimmed most of this book. I ve been using Macs for the best part of 20 years and owned various iMacs since 2000 so I usually pick up the new OS features reasonably quickly. The style is chatty which might not suit everyone, but I find it quite soothing.
However, this book really earns its corn for me is when things go wrong, I ve had a few problems one with dodgy (third party) RAM and just recently my sister in law s had a corrupt boot drive. The appendix on troubleshooting is really excellent, and basically holds your hand while you sort your Mac out. Remember that while your Mac won t boot you may not have access to the internet, so having fix information in book form is invaluable.
Recommended on the basis of the troubleshooting appendix alone, and the rest will be useful to you if you re a switcher from the PC. Note that there s nothing (much) on iLife - that s a different book, although you might be better served by the Mac magazines such as MacFormat, iCreate etc. for this.
