I purchased these for my 5 year old son, whose school requires that he be able to put on his own shoes (they change shoes for indoor versus outdoor activities). Neither of us like Velcro on shoes (noisy, bulky, ugly), and now that he s getting bigger it is difficult to find shoes that come with bungee laces AND that he likes. So, we bought him shoes he likes with traditional laces, and even though he s learning how to tie them, he can t quite get it on his own yet so he can t wear these new shoes at school. We ordered both Lock Laces and Yankz to see which we like best, and the Lock Laces win hands down for his needs. The pinchy-thing to lock them is big enough for him to get a good grip on it, and the lock stays put through lots of running around and climbing. He tucks the loop end under the lacing, just as he has always done with his prior shoes with pre-installed bungee laces. The Yankz are too complicated for him to loosen and tighten, and the stray ends that you are supposed to stuff into the shoes keep working their way out. So, I get the Yankz on my shoes (working fine) and he gets the Lock Laces on his new favorite shoes!
- Easy, Simple solution to an annoying problem. Dealing with laces untying and tripping sounds like such a trivial thing, but this product absolutely works even better than expect. Secure, tight fit... Jump into your shoes with no tying, no dealing with double knotting and dealing with tight knots from bad tying, no tripping and embarrassment from untied shoes, and much cheaper than buying new laceless shoes. I m so glad I found this product!!!
- Easy on, Easy off!. These laces came quickly and were just as described. I didn t use the tassel type plastic piece, as I thought that it looked funny and would bounce around. Once I tightened the laces, I tied the ends like normal shoe laces. This way they don t look different. I have had to retie these a couple of times, but I don t mind. It is nice to be able to put them on just be sliding them on. I have them tight enough that I do have to use at least one hand to get them on, but once I slip them on, I m ready to go out the door. I ll probably get more for myself and my family.
- great for grandma!. i got these laces (4 pairs) for my grandma who was having trouble with her shoe laces. she didn t want to wear dorky slip on shoes so i got her lock laces. wow she loves them! she shows all of her friends and just loves them. she even went out and got new nike 6.0 shoes just to show off to the other old folks. i love these laces and would definitely get these laces for my grandmother or any old person.
- Never buy velcro shoes again. I got these for my 7 year old, who is now too cool for velcro tied sneakers, but too slow to tie his own shoes before school. These things are great. You can t reuse them, so I bought a couple sets, one for the next pair of shoes he gets.
