• a stunning novel. This is an outstanding debut fiction novel from Alison Weir. I was gripped for start to finish, despite knowing the story of Lady Jane Grey already. I was moved to tears at many points throughout the story by how harshly she was treated and what happened to her in her short life. I was a bit worried in case it was a bit Phillipa Gregory - there s nothing wrong with her writing per se, but she is a bit sex obsessed - but this was character and plot driven with very little titillation in it, which was good news!
  
  This seemed so realistic and painted many vivid images of the Tudor court in my mind. I didn t want it to end. I ve bought The Lady Elizabeth to read next and can t wait.

• Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir. I really enjoyed this book which brought the 16th Century tudors to life. If you like english history and period dramas then you ll enjoy this novel.
• Brilliant. I bought this book as I have never really read about history and wanted to learn more. Really enjoyed it,and found it very emotional for poor Jane. The only downside would be that I felt that the author expected you to be very knowledgeable about history, whereas im not, so I did not quite understand what was happening all the time. I definately reccomend it to all history lovers and look forward to reading her next book about the adventures of the young Elizabeth.
• Meh. Certainly not the best historical novel I have read. The front tells me that if I do not cry by the end of the novel I have a heart of stone. Well to be honest I may have cried if the autor could have made me empathise with the lead. She is a spoiled member of the aristocracy who may have been played by her parents, but I just couldn t care.
• Fantastic. I loved this book - a real page-turner. Astutely written with close attention to detail and historical accuracy, Alison Weir is a great author. A great read for anyone who wants to know more about poor Lady Jane Grey. 10/10
