Product Description:

  • Part hard-boiled detective story, and part interactive mystery, Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is an intriguingly addictive yarn that takes place over the course of one night, December 24, 1979.

    Game Storyline
Kyle Hyde, a disgraced New York detective turned salesman, arrives at a run-down Los Angeles inn called Hotel Dusk. Once there, Kyle soon becomes involved in a 30-year-old mystery that involves lies, betrayal, kidnapping, and murder.

Wander into the Hotel Dusk and find yourself part of a 30-year-old mystery.

Unveil the secrets of the main character, Kyle Hyde. View larger.

Unique dual screen gameplay makes the mystery all the more engaging. View larger.
And over the course of the night, he will also discover something very special about Room 215, a room that is said to grant wishes.

But who is Kyle Hyde? Why does his past haunt him? And what happened in Room 215? Only by taking a stylus in hand and navigating through the story s twists and turns can you learn the answers.

    Gameplay
Players hold their Nintendo DS like a book and use the touch screen to grill characters, search for clues, and solve mystifying puzzles. Simple point-and-click touch screen navigation allows for players of any skill level to play.

Hotel Dusk uses branching storylines to tell its tale, giving you many options for how to go about solving the mystery. Should you strong-arm a suspicious stranger in the hallway? Be friendly to the hotel maid? Pretend to be interested in the manager s rambling stories? It s all up to you, but choose wisely. One false step could get you thrown out of the hotel and forever seal the mystery of what happened on that dark Christmas eve so many years ago.

Customer Ratings:

  • Not very Interactive. If I had wanted to read a story, I would have bought a book. It is dialogue tedious. I will say, the story is a great story and the characters are great, but as a game, not so much. Of all my games, this is my least favorite and I will not play it again.
  • Amazing. Absolutely loved the game, so very interesting! The story was enticing and I loved all the characters and learning their individual stories. It was a relaxing sort of a game, too. I beat it twice and loved it each time. It s like an interactive novel. I ve wanted this game since 2007 and was not disappointed one bit. It makes me want to buy the sequel that is coming out this year!
  • One of my favorites.. I loved this game. The other reviewers are right that there is a lot of reading, but I love reading, so maybe that s why it didn t bother me. Playing Hotel Dusk was like being able to interact with a mystery novel. I very much liked the artwork, it was like that of a graphic novel. This game is one-of-a-kind, and I have yet to find one like it, but I am always looking.
  • When s the sequel coming out?. My son gave this to me as a Christmas present in 08, knowing I like mysteries, but I didn t get around to playing it until a few months ago. Once you get into the playing of this game, it really does take you right in and make you want to play it through to the end. I managed somehow to lose my copy on a commuter train before I d finished the game and had to buy another copy because I had to see how it would all turn out.

Although one reviewer complained that there is no save function, he is mistaken. A player can save at any time during the game by going to the detective s notebook and tapping on the save function. You can save up to 3 ongoing games at once, which is a plus since it is possible to make a mistake that will lead you to game over, so save save save on this one.

Also, let the credits roll through till the end. There s just a nice little bit of a surprise after the credits.

Anyone know if a sequel is planned? I d snap it up. The ending does leave room for a sequel.
  • Fun as watching grass grow.. This game is boring, stupid, not fun, poor controls and the characters are not interesting. If your a mystery fan, get MYST, or anything other than this. The only mystery here is why this game was made and who would have the time to waste on it.
