High School Musical (Encore Edition) [DVD] [2006]
Descripción de Producto: - The Disney Channel s High School Musical is a combination of backstage action and Grease without the unwholesome habits. Scoring record ratings at the time of its January 2006 broadcast, it s a smash hit with tween audiences (ages 6 to 10), but appealing for all ages. At a New Year s Eve party, Troy (Zac Efron) has a chance meeting with Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) when they share a karaoke song. Lo and behold, when school resumes, they discover that Gabriella has just transferred to Troy s East High School, a campus divided into tight cliques of jocks, cheerleaders, brainiacs, and skater dudes. Eager to recapture the magic they d discovered during karaoke, Troy and Gabriella consider auditioning for the school s upcoming musical, much to the dismay of the school s frost queen/theater goddess, Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale). Problem is, Troy is also the star of the basketball team and Gabrielle is being recruited to compete in the Scholastic Decathlon. Will they give up their cliques to start something new, or will they do as the show s first big anthem urges and Stick to the Status Quo? Well, this is a Disney movie, so maybe the sacrifices won t be that hard, and even the hints of romance are mild.
The bestselling soundtrack is catchy in that Disney-pop kind of way, mixing in a dash of hip-hop (Getcha Head in the Game, punctuated by squeaky basketball shoes and other sound effects), salsa (Bop to the Top), and the endearingly hammy (What I ve Been Looking For performed by Sharpay and her brother, Ryan, played by Lucas Gabreel). It s not hard to imagine High School Musical becoming a semi-staple for high school groups to perform themselves. DVD bonus features include sing-along subtitles, a 9-minute featurette discussing casting, recording sessions, and rehearsals, a multi-angle look at a rehearsal of Bop to the Top, and music videos for We re All in This Together and a song that didn t make it into the final film, I Can t Take My Eyes Off of You, performed by Efron, Hudgens, Tisdale, and Gabreel. --David Horiuchi
Clasificación de Clientes: - This soared up and It ll go down in History.... This is the first movie of the High School musical trilogy. New girl, brainy Gabriella Montez and the popular kid, top jock Troy Bolton become more then friends when they audition for the school musical. The only problem is that Troy is a basket ball dude, not a singer person and Gabriella is expected to be solving equations with her fellow brainiacs rather then singing on stage. Plus, Sharpay Evans who has never been beaten for a role in the school musical since kindergarten is desperate to stop Troy and Gabriella from stealing her spotlight. Troy and Gabbie share the start of something new but will they break free or take the advice from their other friends and just stick to the status quo?
This movie was well produced. Well casted. Well written. The songs are some of the best out there. Catchy lines, funny quips and to top it all it is a U rating and totally clean. There is nothing in this movie which any one needs to fast forward or worry about their children watching. Some people laugh and say this film is cheesy. Its not. And anyway, even if it is...who cares? Its a totally fun movie and look at its sucsess.
- feel good musical. gerat fun film - happy and fun music. just what you d expect. lovely for girls aged 6-12 ish
- High School Musical (Encore Edition) [2006]. HI all great movie but if it s for you r kids i am sick of watching it they love it so it must be good, 2 or 3 times a day is to much for me!!!
- Inevitable, cheesy but oddly likable. Basketball superstar Troy Bolton (Efron) finds himself taking up singing after meeting the smart and beautiful Gabriella.
With an underlining message on the teenage spirit, a collection of songs and a line of media friendly stars, this is Grease for the 21st century, though not as enjoyable.
The poor reviews and bad media image have taken the shine off this picture. Having heard of the franchise and seeing a poor snippet of the third instalment, my face fell when my friend bought me the DVD for Christmas.
However I found myself smiling oddly after the credits finished. Yes it is inevitable on a consistent basis, yes three quarters of the songs are cheesy and yes the performances are so disgraceful they shouldn t even be mentioned, but there is an underlining feel good motive about this picture.
The target audience is obviously teenagers and the plot and life revolves around the target s way of life. The concept of school and how everyone gets on and the teens have difficulties is a tried and tested formula. The ideology of detention is nowhere near as realistic as the Breakfast Club was. The overly dramatic teachers are not as funny as they are in Skins. The ongoing rivalry between students doesn t have the spice that Grease created with ease. All in all HSM has no originality. However the easiness of the story and the familiarity of school situations is likeable and there is a feel good motive that remains consistent all the way through. The predictability is ridiculous and the plot is so over dramatic on occasions it isn t even watchable.
The songs don t tell the story as they did 30 years ago. They try to sum up the insecure feelings of today s teen stereotypes. Teens who can t reveal their feelings, growing up and etc this is truly a message for the insecure teenager and if that teen likes to sing, this is more precious than gold. The majority of songs have the same over dramatic feel as the story does and the performances are so poor you can tell the actors aren t singing, not good for teen viewers is it? These actors should be role models, though Tisdale is really enjoyable. Anyway the songs ruin the concept of a musical and not even the beautiful choreography can save it.
This film is the reason Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens appear in every gossip magazine. Their real life relationship isn t evident based on this film. When critics and magazines talk about rising stars you wonder if you have watched the same film.
HSM is a perfect device for the insecure teen with its message of being yourself but ultimately it is cheesy and you get the same and more from Grease.
6/10 - THE WORST FILM EVER.. Dont not buy this film it is the worst film ever. Bad singing and dancing and realy realy realy boring it is very bad this film realy is poor as well as number 2 and 3 even though i havent seen those i can tell there even worse then this poor boring film.
