• Breaking up is hard to do--but that doesn t mean you can t have some belly laughs about it. Forgetting Sarah Marshall provides that rare treat: a romantic comedy about breakups, that is both romantic and funny. The laughs, especially from writer-star Jason Segel, are both heartfelt and raunchy, and the film is just unexpected enough that it keeps the viewer s attention till the end. The touches of producer Judd Apatow, who s famously retooled rom-coms to appeal to guys as much as women, are woven throughout the film, but Segel s script, reportedly based on many of his own experiences, is fresh and original. And adult. Forgetting Sarah Marshall features male genitalia laffs presented in unexpected and human ways (the nude breakup scene is played for giggles but also deep poignancy), and the language and sex scenes are strictly for grownups--and rightly so. Segel s script, and his performance as Peter, show that he understands the true nature of adult relationships, which provides the refreshing difference between this film and some of Apatow s other crude creations. The cast is sublime, Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) plays title character Sarah, a self-absorbed actress, and Russell Brand is her new British honey who accompanies her to--what are the chances?--the exact same Hawaiian resort as Peter, who s nursing his broken heart. Mila Kunis plays Rachel, the resort employee who gives Peter a reason to hope, and Paul Rudd is the surfing instructor who gives him his own brand of heartfelt advice (When life gives you lemons, just say F--- the lemons and bail, he says cheerily). The pacing is screwball, and the absurdities fly (a Dracula musical puppet show, and a surprisingly lovely Hawaiian version of Nothing Compares 2 U). • Bring on the Dracula musical. not really knowing much about this film apart form some anooying trailers on tv - i put it on with my girlfriend to watch expecting a sappy chick flick with bad jokes.
  
  in turns out this is a really well written adult comedy - its fits aside the 40 year old virgin for good adult romantic comedy aimed at the male audience - its unlike the teen movies that rely on shock tactics and absurdly crude jokes and avoids the doses of overt sentimentality heaped upon the chick flicks that are out there.
  
  i think the film pushes some boundries too in terms of what jokes are acceptable in such a film - the 2 nude scenes bring some comedic moments whilst also being a bit of a shock to see such blatant full frontal nudity - the great thing being jason segals body is not that of a typical hollywood lead but more like the everyday typical man who is likely to be watching it.
  
  the scene with kristen bell helping him in the down stairs department again pushes the boundries of what you would expect in this type of film alongside being hilarious - again this may be funnier for guys than girls.
  
  you can tell its made by a bloke - which is what makes it so successful, it doesnt have the slick male lead - he is a regular guy full of faults and a real person.
  
  it really is a humane movie about issues that directly link to the viewer themslves and situation si m sure many people can relate to.
  
  there are some flaws to it though - although Brands character is funny at times, they push his jokes a little too far sometime and he isnt always funny. Paul rudds character was pretty pointless.
  
  Kunis is charming as his new interest and Bell is good as the self obsessed title character, although she exudes little charm or personality.
  
  I laughed out loud at a number of moments in this film - most of them involving the lead Jason Segal - he really steals the show in this film and is certainly a comedic talent. Bizzare but true - it also has a Dracula puppet musical in it which looks just fab! the song he sings in the bar is both touching, embarassing and funny at the same time - a ture example of what the film is like.
  
  overall the film works on combining the risky sex/nudity orientated scenes with down to earth heartbreak from a very likeable, but flawed lead charcter who could be any one of the veiwers watching the film.
• BORING. SO HIS GF DUMPED HIM AND HE COULD NOT GET OVER IT BLOODY BORING FILM
• pretty good!. mila kunis and jason segel made this film, first time i had seen mila in any films and i thought she was really good and unfairly pretty:(, it was funny and light hearted romantic comedy however the only thing that let it down was the casting of Russell Brand and kristen bell, they were boring and uninspiring. Still think its well worth buying and that mila kunis is under rated
• Brilliant. seriously overshadowed and overlooked in the comedy film genre. so so funny and a fantastic lead. sadly got missed by the critics but its actually awsome! i ve watched it loads so its worth having too not something u can only watch once.
• the worst movie since coyote ugly. i have not been so disappionted by a movie since i saw coyote ugly about 7 years ago.
  not that ive seen all that many, but seriously, what a waste of over an hour of your life. dull dull dull.
