Before I Die

Customer Ranglijsten:

  • Signs of life. A beautiful book, gives you time to reflect on what life is really about: little moments. As Tessa knows that she s going to die she appreciates the way the grass moves and the looks on peoples faces. She notices all signs of life. That s what makes the book special. The fact that she s got a list with 10 things to do before she dies is less important. It s a bit of an anti-climax as sex and drugs come really early on the list and the things that follow are less exciting. There are a few subplots: her parent s relationship, what her friend Zoey goes through and the relationship with the neighbour Adam. These could be developed. Especially Zoey s path. What is very good though is the instruction notes that Tessa writes for her family and friends. The layout of the ending chapter is a clever way of showing how you think and feel when you re about to die.
  • In Huge Competition With Twilight. I am 14 and reading this book has made a great impression on the way I look at the world. I have encoraged my friends to read it, because of its close relation to teenage life. Although it is not in any sense just for teenagers, adults would love it too.

Before I Die is beautifully wrote with a fantastic ability to change mood of the mind. At the start I honesty belived that I wouldnt cry as I thought I might do, but after a few hours of non-stop reading the last pages just looked blurry, because my tears created a film.

I would urge anyone who has enjoyed the twilght books, a geat fan of tearjerkers, or even if you want to read something diffrent, to read this one. Truly amazing.
  • Brilliantly Moving. Most books don t get to me like this, even as a bookworm! This novel has got to be the most moving I have ever read. As you grasp the gravity of Tessa s situation you realise that if you were in that position every little detail would be precious to you too. The sound of a zip, the shadow on the ceiling, everything would mean so much if you knew what was surely to come.

I picked this book up having heard nothing about it and with no preconcived notions, by the end I was crying. And then I read it again, twice in the same day. I ve read the reviews saying that people felt no sympathy for Tessa, how can they say that? How can you not feel sympathy for a 15 year old who is having their life surely taken away day by day, knowing that they will be survived by all they love.

Sorry for rambling on but this is a beautiful, moving book which I would recommend to anyone.
  • Outstanding. If you need a reminder of all that s important in this world, then you should read this novel. Even if you don t think so. The title says it all. Narrated by a Tessa, a girl who is dying of cancer, Before I Die gives a realistic portrait of what she wants to accomplish in the little time left to her.

Tessa, makes lists. Lists of things she wants to accomplish in the short time she has to live....

There are books that help you think about life in a different way. Before I Die did that for me.
  • Before I die. I really,really enjoyed this book.
Before my mum bought it for me she warned me it wouldnt really be the best book to get. I totally disagree, Im 12 now and although I was 11 at the time I really enjoyed it.
Tessa is 16 and knows she s gonna die she has a list of things to do,including sex. I currently have 2 freinds reading the book - who both throughly enjoy it. I think if you were buying the book for a child it would have to be a sensible, mature one.
I cried loads! But actually connected with Tessa, you actually become rather close!! It s a very passionate book and currently reamains my favourite I ve read it 2 times and will never get bored of it. Most nights I pick a chapter to read to myself as I have familirised with the story and never get tired of hearing the tragic tale of Tessa and her family as they support her with the cancer she has been diaognosed with.
A heart warming story which really reminded me of how lucky I am!
