Ain t Misbehavin : Live at the Holywell Music Room, Oxford
Customer Ratings: - Great Jazz Piano. I came accross Jessica Williams by accident a year or so ago when looking at the MaxJazz web site and since then I can t seem to get enough of her great piano style(s). There s Monk in there, (Don t Blame Me) Ellington - many influences but this lady has a lyrical mystique and vibrancy of her own that hits all the right spots. Her own compositions El Salvador and Joyful Sorrow mix well with the famous from Coltrane and Rollins. This album was released in 2000 - if I had bought it then I reckon by now I would have replaced it a least a couple of times. And if I had known in 1996 that Jessica was appearing at Holywell Music Room in Oxford to record it, I would have camped out to get a view.
Typical English audience - restrained appaluse for a great performance.
Every track on this album has so much to offer and in Ain t Misbehavin particularly she leaves out just the right amount of notes to get the brain predicting and leading you in that way that jazz does.
This is a super album - I m well on the way to collecting the lot! Jessica s Web Site too has some great tasters...
